A quick summer shower, a cluster of Monarchs, and A quick summer shower, a cluster of Monarchs, and “She needs wide open spaces Room to make her big mistakes” by The Chicks on loop in my head as I walk the prairie.
These words have offered a mantra during the pande These words have offered a mantra during the pandemic and now as I transition into writing & finding a part-time job.
Life is short. Say the words. Do the thing. Take the risk.
I found them scrolling Insta during the height of the shutdown.
I wrote them on a sticky note & posted them in the office that I wasn’t really using.
They waited for me.
The pull of these simple lines felt strong. Hopeful.✨
Eventually I started to declutter my office and set it up for life now and it felt right to make the words into a poster. I framed it and hung the words on the wall where I write.
I don’t live into these words everyday. Many days I don’t say the words or take the risk. I’m often scared to do the thing. But I’m hopeful and I’m recognizing that I long to live in this way, knowing life is too short to avoid, hide, or beat around the bush.
These lines are simple and clear and that’s what my life at 45 longs to be. 💛

Last Sunday we returned from our trip and I found Last Sunday we returned from our trip and I found this slender lady had made an appearance while we were gone.
💕
Today she reminds me that despite the heaviness that has been in the air & the uncertainty ahead, there will always be sources of surprise and delight if I stay open to notice them.
✨
Hey friends! 💛 Social media and I are still fig Hey friends! 💛 Social media and I are still figuring out our relationship, but after turning the page on my business instagram and leaving FB (except for a couple FB groups), I have missed the chance to share & connect with a bigger community and the simple creativity of crafting short posts.
So… this personal site is going to get more attention! And I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on.
Over the past year, I have been writing (Yay!) and with the support of @mnkatehopper & some other great writers, I tiptoed into the world of publishing.
My first piece will be published with @quillkeeperspress in a parenting anthology in July. I write personal essays, memoir, and this piece, “Tracking Growth,” is about my son.
I’m grateful my family supports my work and the sharing of stories about finding my way as a mother, daughter, wife, and sister. I hope to write with vulnerability & truth.
Thanks for being on the journey with me! ✨

I spent the last six years helping people declutter their homes. Now I spend my days writing about the messy areas of life and my journey to let go of the extras.
